About Mangrove Park.
Sumiyou Town, where the “Forest in Black Current Mangrove Park” is located, is rich in nature and surrounded by water and greenery.
The forest, that covers 94% of the town, is home to natural monuments such as the Ryukyu robin, the Amami jay, and a special natural monument, the Amami rabbit.
The majestic mangrove virgin forest (National Park Special Preservation Area) spreads out from the mouth of Sumiyou bay, facing the Pacific Ocean.
Please come to the roadside station “Forest in Black Current Mangrove Park”, with its rich nature, history and culture.
You’ll find the area is full of highlights throughout all of the seasons.
